HGH Side Effects- What You Should Know about Human Growth Hormone

What Is Human Growth Hormone?

HGH (human growth hormone) is a naturally produced hormone in the anterior pituitary gland. The hormone plays a crucial role in growth, cell regeneration, in maintaining human tissue, of the brain, and other vital organs.

HGH spurs growth and development in children and adults. It further helps in regulating the overall body composition, bone and muscle growth, body fluids, fat and sugar metabolism, and heart function. HGH further serves to be an active ingredient in various prescription medications available.

Another definition of HGH can be-it is a growth hormone or somatotropin, a peptide hormone that stimulates cell regeneration and cell reproduction in humans. Once produced, it remains active in the bloodstream for some time, allowing enough period for the liver to convert it in growth factors, the most important being IGF-1 or insulin-like growth factor 1 that has great growth promoting properties on each cell in the human body.

By increasing the dosage prescribed by your physician for a long period of time or even by injecting HGH at a young age, you increase the chance of experiencing side effects. Typically, HGH is produced in the body at a young age and starts to diminish gradually after you reach the 20s.

The most common concerns you may need to pay attention to include:

  • Due to its ability to stimulate cell growth, medical professionals have speculated that excess of HGH can spur the growth of cancer cells present in the body.
  • Acromegaly has often been linked with HGH but according to DR Ronald Klatz in the book Grow Young with HGH, he has mentioned that Acromegaly is not the side effect of HGH use. It is the direct effect of continuous and deliberate overdosage.
  • Because of its water retention property, a higher dosage of HGH can result in aching joints, carpal tunnel syndrome, and edema.
  • Type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance are the other possible effects you may face from over usage of HGH.

Some common HGH side effects

There are however a few common side effects of HGH that you may face. These include:

  • Edema
  • Improper thyroid function
  • Improper insulin reception
  • Numbness or tingling sensation in feet and hands

Careful use of HGH can greatly reduce the risks and side effects involved with HGH treatment. Those with HGH deficiency like people over the age of 35 or 40 have the potential to enjoy the great benefits that HGH can offer.

Is HGH Therapy Safe?

Although HGH treatment is safe and effective, there are obviously a few minor side effects too. But the good thing is that the serious side effects are low and rare. Muscle and joint aches, numbness and swelling are the most common effects one may face. Also, you may face these side effects if you overdose yourself. If you experience any of the symptoms mentioned above, talk to your doctor. The medical professional will adjust the dosage of your HGH product. Once the doctor prescribes the changed dosage, the symptoms may go away with time.

Further, there are people who should not use HGH like the ones who have cancer or tumors. Those who are seriously ill, have injuries or serious breathing issues should also not take HGH injections. So, it can be derived that apart from a few minor effects, HGH is safe to use. People with severe illnesses should avoid using it without taking a nod from the doctor. Also, when taken in excess, it may offer some effects you would not like to have.

Thus it is always recommended not to overdose or misuse HGH in any form. Doing so will only give you side effects and will not do any good for your health.
